The early achievements of Maureen FitzSimons in the performing arts, that are now known to be Maureen O'Hara, would certainly have qualified her to being in the "child prodigy" category. This was a very natural quality for a woman from Irish origin, and that was surrounded during her early days by talented family members and parents. Maureen was born in Ranelagh - a suburb of Dublin the capital of Ireland, on 17 August 1920. Marguerita Lu. FitzSimons made a name for herself with her contralto. Charles FitzSimons managed a Dublin-based firm and also owned a stake of "The Shamrock Rovers," famous Irish soccer squad. Maureen was the second of six FitzSimons children - Peggy, Florrie, Charles B. Fitzsimons, Margot Fitzsimons and James O'Hara completed this beautiful family. Maureen enjoyed rough sports as a kid and was very adept at them. This natural interest and her talent to perform was impressive. This was demonstrated by her receiving nearly every Feis award for drama and the stage that her country had to offer. At age 14, she had been admitted to the Abbey Theater, where her goal was to study the art of opera and classical theatre.
